So J and I did a little experiment the other night and decided to
document it. We wanted to see what it was like to put ourselves in
the shoes of a homeless person that begs on the side of the street
for their dinner. The money we raised will be donated to an
organization that helps find jobs for the homeless...
Deuteronomy 15:10
"Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart, then
because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work
and in everything you put your hand to.
Hey, it's Amy - been following your blog and Instagram for a while, but I think this is my first comment! I love that you guys did this, but I was hoping for more details! How were you guys treated? Did a lot of people donate? I always give people water, bread, and peanut butter when I have it in the car. Did other people give you guys food? How long was your experiment? My uncle did that one day and "earned" something like $360 in a day. I wonder all the time if he just had a really good corner or if that's typical. He always offers the people he sees jobs at his business and he said only four or so have ever called him about it. :-/ Either way, it's awesome that you guys did that and that you donated the money to a productive organization!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! : )

that is really cool about your uncle! wow, where to start- it was a very teachable/learning experience for me. I hate making people feel uncomfortable- it made me feel uncomfortable as well as others. However, it taught me not only thankfulness but also a huge lesson in humility. We did it just over a hour and made about 40 dollars. We did not get food, we were mostly asking for money, and now will be sending it to an organization that helps homeless get jobs..
DeleteThanks for the kinda words and love Amy!!
This was a really good thing of you to do!
